Elin Owen gained first class honours in History from Bangor University but was finding it impossible to find work experience. In 2014 Elin came to the Centre for Health Economics and Medicines Evaluation (CHEME). She undertook 8 week’s unpaid work experience, followed by 3 months paid work which resulted in her winning a contract with the university as a RPSO – research project support officer. At that time Elin was matched with her first guide dog Georgie. Rhiannon introduced Elin to the Access to Work Scheme and encouraged her through the early stages of learning to work with a guide dog. Elin is now completing her training as a counsellor, with work placements with Cruse, and the NHS, and is looking forward to passing on her experiences in turn.
